LingTok Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
LingTok is a short-video app for language learners. This policy explains what we collect,
why, and the choices you have. It applies to the LingTok iOS app and the pages on this site.
Who we are
LingTok is operated by the LingTok team ("we", "us"). Contact:
support@lingtok.app.
What we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive and
store your email address and, if you choose to share it, your name. Sign-in is handled
through our backend's authentication service. We do not receive your Apple or Google
password.
- Learning activity. Your target language, interface language, self-placed
starting level, the clips you view and engage with, words you tap for help, saved words
("Deck") and custom meanings you enter, quiz results, review history, and your progression level. This is tied to your
account so your learning state syncs across sessions.
- Reports and feedback you send. We store clip reports and app feedback,
including the message and any email address you provide, together with your account or
guest session identifier. Clip reports also include the clip, reason, and report time;
app feedback may include the app version. We use this information to investigate issues
and respond. Leaving the email field empty does not remove the link to your account or
guest session.
- Subscription status. If you start a plan, your purchase is processed by
Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements; RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous
identifier for your account, your subscription state, and renewal or cancellation events.
We store the resulting subscription status.
- Technical data. Video clips stream from our content-delivery network, and
our backend keeps standard server logs — IP address, device and app version, and request
timestamps — for security and reliability.
You can start using LingTok without signing in with Apple or Google. We create an
anonymous account identifier for this guest experience. Your learning profiles and activity,
including saved vocabulary, custom meanings, and review activity, are stored on our servers
under that identifier. When you first sign in to an account without existing learning profiles,
your guest profiles can be transferred to it. Signing in to an account with existing profiles
loads that account's learning data instead.
What we do not do
- No advertising, ad networks, or ad SDKs.
- No third-party analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Why we use it
To create and secure your account, deliver and personalize your feed, save your learning
progress, provide word explanations and review, operate your subscription, and keep the
service running and free of abuse.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that make the app work, each acting on our instructions:
- Apple — sign in, and App Store payments and subscription management.
- Google — sign in (if you choose it).
- Our backend provider — database and authentication host.
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
- Our content-delivery network — video delivery.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Retention
Guest learning data is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity. Registered users can
delete their account and associated learning data from the Profile page in the app (see "Your
choices" below). Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
Your choices
- Delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app.
This removes your account and learning data from our systems and, for Apple sign-in,
revokes the token Apple issued to LingTok. We retain a restricted deletion receipt
containing the former account identifier and deletion time, without your name or email.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.
- Access or correction. Email us at the address above and we will help.
- Subscriptions. Manage or cancel any time in your Apple Account settings;
billing terms are shown before you purchase.
Children
LingTok is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher
age). We do not knowingly collect information from them.
International
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using LingTok
you consent to that transfer.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will post the new version here and update the date above.
